National Biathlon Success

on

It was fantastic to see both Junior and Senior Abbey students compete in the British Schools Modern Biathlon Championships last Sunday 20 March, which was held at The University of Bath.

Competing in the U16 group, the team of Carys, Maya and Matilda had an outstanding day, coming away with the National team title. The individual standings placed Matilda in 4th and Maya in 5th, with Carys coming away with another National Champion award.

Esme (finished 89th in U12), Shumeng (finished 52nd U13) and Lauren (finished 19th in U14) performed in the U12 – U14 age category. Each student worked really hard in both the swimming and running disciplines.

Finally, Lily produced an excellent swim and run to gain a podium place, finishing as 3rd in the U19 competition.

From Juniors Araliya and Pippa performed in the U11 category. Both had fantastic runs with Araliya taking 11 seconds off her personal best, finishing in 2.59 and Pippa finishing in a time of 3.17. Overall Araliya finished 11th and Pippa 70th.

In our U10 category, Alice showed tenacity and resilience in her run with a finishing time of 2.57 and finishing 13th overall.

Well done to all Abbey athletes – they most certainly finished the Biathlon on a high!
