Badminton Success

on

I played in the Yonex All England Junior Badminton Championships at the end of July. This was the first Junior International tournament ever to take place in England. Players from 25 different countries participated with over 160 people playing across all categories. Many were from England.

In the tournament, I played in both Women’s Singles and Women’s Doubles. In Singles, I went as far as the quarter finals. In the 1st round, I won against a Scottish player. In the 2nd round I won against someone from Denmark, followed by a win against an England player to reach Quarter final. In the Quarter finals, I lost against the sixth seed player from India.  Overall, there were only two girls from England who reached Quarter finals including me and I’m very proud of this achievement.

In Women’s Doubles, I lost against a Scottish pair in an early round. Overall, the tournament was a great experience and helped in boosting my confidence. I hope to play in it every year if hosted.
