Music Scholars’ Day

on

On Wednesday 4 May our Senior School Music Scholars had a full day of events which began with a plethora of truly wonderful performances in the Abbey Interludes lunchtime recital series at Christ Church. Music was provided by Ella (clarinet), Annabel (violin), Chantelle (piano), Frances (piano) and Linda (violin). We would like to congratulate all students for their performances and to thank Mrs Cornford for accompanying our music scholars.

Later the same day, Dan Cornford led a workshop looking at performance anxiety and strategies which could be employed by our musicians when preparing for recitals and other performances. Students were led through a series of activities, exercises and visualisations. The workshop was accompanied by an afternoon tea where the students shared a wide range of tasty savoury and sweet treats and had the chance to chat with each other, crossing year groups and getting to know each other a little better. Our thanks go to Dan for his insightful and thought-provoking sessions and we look forward to more scholars’ events in the future.
