Last week Upper V German students took part in an age-old Abbey tradition: the German revision trip to Streatley. This is a wonderful occasion to prepare for their German IGCSE exam in an unconventional way. After setting off from Reading train station on Sunday afternoon, the students arrived at the YHA hostel in Streatley, which served as their little corner of Germany for the next 24 hours.
Our fantastic teaching team delivered exam-focused material especially designed to boost the students’ skills and confidence in vocabulary and speaking. But the Streatley trip isn’t just about academic learning; over their time at the hostel, students took part in a treasure hunt in German, ate some German-style food, and had a German Kinoaband. We are very proud of how well our Germanists have worked in Streatley, and we wish them all the best of luck for their upcoming exam!
