Further Woodley Festival Success

on

We are delighted to share more fantastic results from the Woodley Festival.

Katheirne (Upper II) worked hard in the Woodley Festival and came away with a collection of awards.

In the instrumental section Katherine performed a collection of solo violin pieces. In the Grade 4-5 class her “passionate and engaging performance” landed her with a Gold with distinction, which was praised for the “super assured rhythm and effective tonal colours across the piece”.

In the Recital Class 11 years and under, she won a Silver with distinction, which was praised for the “blossoming sounds”, “a lovely feeling of musical growth through the piece” and “a very stylish rendition”.

She then took part in two large violin ensembles at the Festival which came first – collecting another Gold as well as a trophy.

In the Pianoforte Section she partnered with Emma (Lower III) in a duet which wowed the audience and the adjudicator. It was awarded Gold with distinction, and the pair was invited to perform in front of the Lady Mayor of Wokingham in the Final Concert.

Katherine also entered the Piano Sonata Class 11 years and under, and her “very poised and musically detailed performance” was awarded distinction with a Bronze medal.

“This was a wonderful experience,” Katherine says, “you play music in front of an audience and it was also lovely to listen to others’ performances.”
