Cross Country Success

on

On Saturday 16 January, students from Upper III to Upper V travelled to Newbury Showground to compete in the Berkshire Schools Cross Country Championships. It was a cold and frosty morning, but the sun came out and warmed up the frozen ground giving cold and sunny conditions.

The students did superbly. In the Upper III race they ran well, coming in the 3rd team out of 20. Top positions came from Lily in 14th and Stephanie in 15th. In the U15 race combining Lower IV and Upper IV, they claimed the top team spot and the trophy, bringing it home for the second year running! Top positions came from Matilda in 22nd and Isabella and Grace in an excellent 6th and 4th places. In the U17 race combining Lower V and Upper V, just three runners competed with Amelia in 33rd, Matilda in 20th and Carys in an excellent 3rd place individually. From these fantastic runs Isabella, Grace and Carys have been selected to represent Berkshire at the SE Inter Schools Cross Country Championships in West Sussex; from there, they could be selected to run at the English Schools National Finals in March. Well done to all runners!
