Visit to Care Home

on

Over the Easter holiday, Grace W (Upper IV) visited St Lukes Care Home in Caversham to perform the piano once again. Grace has been in contact with the care home for more than a year now but this visit was a surprise for the residents to brighten up their Easter, and they all enjoyed listening to the recital with a lady noting that Grace’s performance was ‘a ray of sunshine’ in her day.

One of the audience members was a ninety year old lady that used to be a violin teacher and Grace offered to bring her violin in for her to have a go, but the lady said that she wasn’t brave enough to perform! Whilst circulating around the residents Grace met an avid guitarist, a flautist, a current pianist, and also reconnected with her friends John and Allan Wicks, and learnt that they used to play the trombone in their school’s orchestra. Maybe they can look forward to having a duet in the near future!

Grace can’t wait to go back again in the summer and play for the residents of St Lukes once more.

As you can see in the first photo, the items that were kindly donated by you are in use by the residents; thank you on their behalf.
