Upper VI Philosophy and Theology walking Trip to Reading

on

On Friday 3 March, Upper VI Philosophy and Theology A Level students visited different retail establishments in Reading town centre with the aim of observing business ethics in action.

We compared the promoted corporate social responsibility of different companies and observed how this manifested in their advertising, for example some businesses focused on clear labelling that they sold cruelty free products and were against animal testing, whilst others had a focus on sustainability and advertised renewable resources.

We also found evidence of globalisation by observing how different shops catered their marketing towards their local target market, those living in the UK. An example of this was the emphasis on advertising of Easter themed products.
