On Wednesday afternoon Upper Prep enjoyed creating observational drawings of different types of flowers in their Art lesson.
This term Upper Pep are exploring how to be sustainable and so created their sketches on recycled newspaper. They took inspiration for their flower drawings from the wildlife found in Trinidad after reading ‘Coming to England’ by Floella Benjamin.
Each student took their time to really look at the details of each flower and produced some vibrant, colourful drawings using soft pastels and oil pastels. Some children decided to add details such as the veins on the leaves and spots on the petals.
They will be continuing this project by creating some 3D sculptures of flowers using recycled materials later on in the term.
We think you will agree that their drawings are both bright and beautiful!
