Spanish Host families,¡Qué encantadoras!

on

One of the highlights of the Spanish trip was the homestay of Lower VI students with Spanish host families.

Here is an account of Shruti’s experience.

Before going on the Spanish trip I was unsure about how my experience would be living with host families. However, coming out of the trip I truly felt that it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. Rather than staying in a hotel and feeling like I was on a typical touristy holiday, I felt fully immersed into Spanish culture. Our family welcomed us into their home and created a really comfortable atmosphere and by the end of our trip we found it very difficult to leave. The opportunity to speak Spanish with a native speaker every day helped improve my conversational skills greatly.

We were also able to try different foods and step out of our comfort zones which, even as a picky eater, I thoroughly enjoyed! It was a once in a lifetime experience that I’ll never forget which I would recommend to anyone. The trip as a whole was incredible and we had an opportunity to do a range of activities which helped me learn and experience the culture like watching a flamenco show in Seville and learning about a Roman theatre in Cadiz.
