RAF Squadronaires Concert

on

On Thursday 25 January we gathered in the Richards Hall for an unforgettable evening of music and talent. The much-anticipated concert featuring the Royal Air Force Squadronaires and The Abbey Jazz Band finally came to fruition, and it certainly exceeded all expectations. This event was the brainchild of Mrs Clark, our Head of Instrumental Studies and a former member of the RAF Central Band. Her exciting vision and meticulous planning led to an outstanding afternoon of workshops and rehearsals, culminating in a most spectacular concert.

The standard of musicianship throughout the evening was outstanding and a fantastic opportunity for our students to work alongside one of the finest swing bands on the music circuit. The repertoire for the evening was diverse, showcasing the incredible range of musicians involved. From the lively rendition of Strike Up the Band to the charm of Bare Necessities, the audience was treated to a musical journey that spanned various styles and eras. Each piece was delivered with precision, passion and a genuine love for the art of music.

As we reflect on this magnificent concert, we would like to express our gratitude to everyone involved in making it a reality. Thank you to the RAF Squadronaires, and The Abbey Jazz Band (Alexia, Gianna, Isabella, Aarini, Hope, Eunice, Louisa, Oya, Emily, Amelia, Chloe, Imogen, Sarah, Emily and Erin) Mr Gooch for his leadership of the Jazz Band, including many hours of planning and musical arrangement and of course, to Mrs Clark, for bringing her vision to life, with passion and dedication. We hope this concert serves as a reminder of the power of music to unite, inspire and uplift our community.
