Meet the Musicians: We Will Rock You!

on

As the curtains rise and the lights dim, it’s not just the actors and dancers who bring magic to the stage.

In our current production of We Will Rock You, we celebrate the talents and dedication of all the musicians involved, but particularly our sixth form students; Oya, Louisa, Mia and Grace. These young musicians have not only showcased their musical prowess but have also sacrificed countless hours of personal time to ensure the success of the show.

Playing in the pit is no easy feat. It requires a unique blend of humility, focus and flexibility. The stamina and temperament required to play the same music for four performances demand a level of dedication and passion that is truly commendable.

We would like to recognise and express our thanks to the musicians in the band, without whose talent and dedication, a show like We Will Rock You simply couldn’t function.

“I am really enjoying playing in the We Will Rock You Band because it is an amazing experience being in a collective of phenomenal musicians and learning lots of tips from them about playing in a musical and how this differs from other groups. The music itself is one of the best parts of being in the band because Queen’s songs are so iconic, so having the opportunity to play almost all of them is something I am really grateful for! I am especially looking forward to performing in some of the numbers with cool bass lines such as ‘Another One Bites the Dust’ and ‘Under Pressure’ as well as just being excited to see how it all comes together in the shows and having the amazing performers on stage to finalise all the hard work” – Louisa

“It’s a new and exciting experience to be involved in the band, and I’m honoured to have the opportunity to work with a set of incredibly talented musicians and actors supporting the show” – Grace

As we continue on our run, we invite you to experience the magic for yourself. Tickets are still available for tonight’s performance, as well as tomorrow’s matinee and evening shows. Join us in celebrating not only the iconic music of Queen but also the extraordinary talents of our student performers and musicians.
