Junior School House Music

on

The annual House Music Competition at the Junior School has been taking place throughout this week.  Students from Lower I – Lower III were all invited to perform to their year group, if they wished to, in year group vocal and instrumental classes and the performers were given feedback from a variety of esteemed adjudicators who kindly gave up their time to enjoy the performances.

The winners of each class were given a badge and the adjudicators selected one performance from each year group, which particularly resonated with them, to receive a trophy.

These special awards were given to: Lower III – Manxi – Piano, Upper II – Isabella – Cello, Upper I – Jojo -Bassoon,  Lower I – Chanel – Piano

As a culmination to the House Music competition, students from Reception to Lower III joined together in houses to take part in the group vocal competition on Thursday afternoon.  The theme for this year’s songs was Disney, with the younger students performing a range of traditional Disney marches and girls from Lower I upwards performing a favourite Disney song as chosen by members of each house.

The performances were judged by Clive Waterman who has vast experience of working with children in massed choirs, as well as numerous choral societies.  It was wonderful to hear the hall filled with the sounds of Disney as pupils sang with enthusiasm and enjoyment for their houses.

Once all the points across the House Music events were tallied the results were as follows

House Instrumental

Lower III – Paget

Upper II – Carrington

Upper I – Kensington

Lower I – Paget

Overall winner of the House Music Competition Autumn 2023 was Carrington
