Inspiring Art – Cold Dark Matter

on

Cold Dark Matter: An Exploded View is the restored contents of a garden shed exploded by the British Army at the request of the artist Cornelia Parker. Made from wood, metal, plastic, ceramic, paper, textile and wire the surviving pieces have been used by Parker to create an installation suspended from the ceiling as if held mid-explosion.

This work inspires me because I like how this artist uses old materials to create new, exciting modern art. It draws me in because it makes me feel curious about space, the future and the unknown.

‘Cold dark matter is the material within the universe that we cannot see and we cannot quantify. We know it exists but we can’t measure it.’
