House Music Competition 2023

on

After a break of four years the Whole School House Music Competition returned to the Junior School on 9 March.

The morning started with individual classes with performances from students in Lower I – Lower III. The adjudicator, local music teacher Suzanne Newman, was impressed with the confidence of all the performances and found it difficult to choose a winner of each class.

After break it was time for the House Songs. Students in Reception to Upper Prep had been working on songs with a mathematical theme, whereas Lower I – Lower III had learned songs from the Eurovision Song contest.

Each performance earned points for their house and the results were as follows:
Lower Junior Piano Class – Katherine for Kensington
Upper Junior Piano Class – Emma for Ducat
Vocal Class – Aadhira for Carrington
Instrumental Class – Ella for Kensington
Reception – Upper Prep House Song – Carrington
Lower I – Lower III House Song – Carrington.

It was a close contest and the overall winners were Carrington – with a special mention from our judge for the staff participation in all houses, but especially the high kick from Mr Page!

Well done to all the performers – a great way to bring back House Music!
