Fire and Rescue Visit

on

Before half term The Abbey Junior School had the Wokingham Road Fire and Rescue Service visit. Upper II students had the opportunity to hear a fire safety talk and take a tour around the fire engine. Did you know firefighters have only 90 seconds to get ready when called out to an emergency?

We loved going inside the engine and learning about the different types of hoses and equipment. We learnt that it is very important to check your smoke alarms and that the fire service will come out and install your smoke alarms for free!

The fire crew were full of interesting facts and we had loads of questions to ask.

Aria, Upper II “I really liked going in the fire engine; it was fun to see the inside and the equipment”

Neve, Upper II “I liked learning different ways to keep ourselves safe around different types of fire! I learnt the phrase stop, drop and roll”

A big thanks to the four members of the fire and rescue team; Keiron, Lucie, Darren and Ben who gave up their time to visit us!
