Last week the Junior (Upper III and Lower IV) and Inter (Upper IV and Lower V) teams travelled to Palmer Park in Reading to compete in the ESAA Schools Cup Track and Field Championships – Berkshire Finals. There were 20 schools from all over Berkshire competing in this team competition in both a track and field event.

The athletes did excellently with some of them being at their first ever athletics competition! They received points for every distance and time achieved and these added up to a team score. The Juniors came 9th just 30 points off 3rd and the Inters came 5th just 10 points off 3rd place, excellent placings!. From the performances all points totals are collated in the whole of the south west of England including counties such as Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Avon, Hampshire, Dorset, Wilshire – a very strong cohort.

The top 24 teams are invited to compete at the regional finals and both ours have been successful in this. They will compete at the Regional finals in Winchester after half term. Congratulations to these athletes and good luck in the next round!
