Chess Team reach National Finals

on

On Saturday 6 th April we arrived at St. Catherine’s, Bramley at 10.30am to start
playing our first round match at 11.00am. We made a great start by winning 2-1
against Tiffin Girls School. We played five games on Saturday and four games on
Sunday. We stayed the Saturday night in St. Catherine’s new Sixth form Boarding
House which was very nice. On Saturday night we had the wonderful opportunity to
meet Lorin D’Costa, who is an International Chess Master, and we talked to him
about his future ideas for girls’ chess.

Overall we came 7th nationally which we are so proud of and we had a notable win
against St. Paul’s A team, who were previously unbeaten in the competition.
We all agreed it was such a fun weekend.
