Athletics Success

On Wednesday 8 June, the Junior team (Upper III – Lower IV) travelled to Winchester to compete in the South West Regional B Finals of the ESAA Schools Cup Track and Field Competition. They were competing against the top teams in the South West of England and did excellently in very varied weather conditions. Each student did a track and a field event, with notable performances coming from Matilda in the 800m, Grace in the 1500m and Kara in the High Jump. Our students finished a fantastic 5th place in the finals and a credible 19th position overall in the whole of the South West of England; fantastic work!

On Saturday 11 June, 12 students from Lower IV to Lower V competed for Reading at the Berkshire Schools Track and Field Championships in Bracknell against other strong Berkshire schools.

There were some excellent performances by all athletes, with many setting new personal bests. Kara and Alice both achieved 1.37m in the High Jump, with Alice claiming the bronze medal on countback for the Junior age group. Desola pulled out a throw over 20m to gain a silver medal in the Inter Discus competition and Carys continued her excellent performance this season and was crowned County Champion in the Inter Girls 800m. Well done to everyone who competed!
