National Teaching Award Certificate

Miss Mogio was presented with her certificate from the National Teaching Awards last Thursday on National Thank a Teacher Day at Staff Briefing. The award recognises her work as a Digital Innovator; both in her own teaching practice, as well as supporting others to improve their teaching practice within the school, and outside the school as the lead teacher of our Digital Schoolhouse.

Mr Bradley, Head of Computer Science at the Senior School, commented “Miss Mogio is an outstanding Computer Science teacher who inspires us all with her innovative digital teaching methods. This award recognises this and the amazing work she does both in the school and in the community.”

As lead teacher of our Digital Schoolhouse Miss Mogio runs workshops and presentations to other schools, including local Primary Schools, supporting teachers to improve their practice as well as inspiring more girls to get into the Tech Industry and Computer Science.

Mr Bradley continued “Her passion and enthusiasm for inspiring and engaging girls into our subject is infectious. Yet this passion is backed by her skill and knowledge which are evidenced by educational research. Miss Mogio is leading the redevelopment of our Lower School curriculum based upon this. This has led other schools to look at The Abbey School, and Miss Mogio, as leaders in the field of Computer Science education.”

Miss Mogio has also been invited to present to a group of International students at the University of Reading on her work in this area.
