Upper I First Aid Training

on

This week Upper I have received training in basic first aid and how to deal with a medical emergency. They were taught how to use DR ABC (danger, response, airway, breathing, compressions) when finding a casualty, how to put them into the recovery position, phoning 999 for help and how to perform CPR on both an adult, child and baby.

The students were also shown how to use a defibrillator and can now locate one in the Junior school.

The Upper I girls have shared their thoughts:

‘I now know what to do if I found someone who has collapsed’ Nieshaa

‘I enjoyed seeing CPR performed on the mannequin.’ Ally

‘It was really cool and I learned alot about saving lives.’ Rosa

‘I learned that the defibrillator will not shock unless it senses no heartbeat. This means you can’t make a mistake.’ Stella

‘I learned that it is easy to put someone into the recovery position’ Saee
