U15s Cricket off to a flyer!

on

The U15s made a positive start to their 2023 campaign with a comfortable 88 run victory over Leighton Park. Having lost the toss, The Abbey were asked to bat first. Gabby and Anvi started brightly, picking off the bad balls of their opening bowlers to make 33 runs off the first four overs. Martha and Issy added to this tally, with some big shots, before losing two quick wickets but still maintained a healthy partnership of 24 runs. Akshita and Anishka were next to the crease and worked well together to continue to build the teams score to 88 before Ellie and Jo had opportunity to attack in the last remaining overs to finish the innings on 123 runs.

The Abbey started the bowling attack well and denied the scoring opportunities for Leighton Park with tight bowling and efficient fielding. Each player bowled two overs, and as a team The Abbey took a total of six wickets and limited Leighton Park to a total score of 35 runs. Leighton Park awarded bowler of the game to Ellie and batter of the game to Jo. The U15 team continue their pursuit against Holme Grange on Tuesday.
