‘Thank You for the Music’ with Lower III

On 1 February, Lower III came together for their Thank You for the Music Concert.  Lower III have written their own reviews of the event which encapsulate the evening perfectly.

‘The tables were really nicely decorated and the atmosphere felt really magical.  It is a really nice way to remember this as a memory as we go to secondary school. I really like that everyone was included that didn’t have an instrument to play and were compères including me!’

‘In our sparkly outfits we walked to the Senior School. We each went to a table to reserve a spot for our parents.  At 6.30 our music began.  There were many singers and one in a different language. We also had many lovely songs on the piano, a heart warming song on the harp, some played the guitar and one the bassoon.  Our last solo performance was by Manxi who played the violin and was incredible as she vibrated her fingers while playing.  For the big finale the whole of Lower III sang a song that left the parents with tears and a lump in their throats.’

‘This was a lovely experience, showcasing everybody’s talents, pianists, violinists, vocalists and more. It was a world of musical diversity. It was overall just a wonderful time, singing, clapping along, and taking in every moment of the talent I could see in the people around me. It boosted my confidence too, making me more sure of myself, and instilled even more trust that I had in the people I performed with, having faith they would sing with me. The feeling that you get at the end of performing a song was something I had never felt before, which makes me want to do it again! It was a feeling of pure pride!’

‘The ‘Thank you for the music’ concert was absolutely amazing, unveiling everyone’s phenomenal talents and passions. It took up a great quantity of courage to perform on stage in the spotlight. It was a diverse collection of songs and instruments. When you would look around you would see everyone smiling and lost in deep concentration of one another’s performance. I was extremely nervous at the start because I was singing a song in a completely different language, in which I knew no one would understand me, but when I looked around, my friends were exhibiting heartwarming smiles and thumbs ups at me when it was my moment. When I made my way up the stairs everyone was sending me messages throughout their body, a message of good luck. A feeling of excitement and anxiety was gushing through my body. When I was finally on stage I captured a glimpse of my friends from the corner of the hall. I don’t know exactly how it happened but it was at that moment that I had never felt so confident in ages. I started to sing still shaking but after I got used to it it felt great! This concert is something that will remain in my heart for many years to come.’

‘Thank you for the Music was a really enjoyable experience that I will remember.  The decor, food and pieces were absolutely amazing.  It was really memorable listening to my friends sing or play an instrument.  It was really cool that we could wear our own party dresses too.  The people playing were extremely talented and the compères too.  Every student got a flower made from music sheets, which was really cool.  My friends and I were all saying that it was such a memorable event.’
