Team England Alumna launching the Reading Festival of Sport @The Abbey

on

Congratulations to alumna Maria Tsaptsinos (2015) who has this week been announced as part of Team England – Table Tennis, for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham Games this summer.

Alongside preparations and international competitions, Maria will be back at The Abbey to lead table tennis coaching sessions with our current students, as part of the inaugural Reading Festival of Sport @The Abbey.

Maria is one of a number of Commonwealth medallists, elite athletes and Reading community sport groups delivering coaching and taster sessions across a range of sporting disciplines featuring in the 2022 Commonwealth Games.  Sports will include some less familiar school sports ranging from Volleyball to Lawn Bowls, Rugby Sevens to Para-powerlifting and Basketball to Boxing. More details on the Reading Festival of Sport @The Abbey COMING SOON.

Maria consistently represented England through her time at The Abbey and is no stranger to success on the international stage, winning Bronze at the Commonwealth Games in 2018 on the Gold Coast.  After leaving The Abbey, Maria gained a first class degree in Geography at The University of Nottingham and now works in journalism as a video producer.

We look forward to congratulating Maria on her Team England selection in person when she is back at The Abbey later this month.
