Scholarship Questions

on

On Tuesday 17 October, eight of our Senior School Specialist and Academic Scholars led a Google Meet Q&A session with the Lower III students at the Junior School.

It was an excellent opportunity for the younger students to ask questions about what it means to be a Scholar, supporting and guiding them as they prepare to join the Senior School in September 2024.

With varied programmes across the specialist disciplines, information was shared about the wide range of activities, including trips, masterclasses, Scholars’ lunches and competitions, both in and out of school. What really shone through in the advice given is for anyone applying for a Specialist Scholarship, whether in Art, Drama, Music or Sport, to let their passion show on the assessment day; for those sitting an Academic Scholarship paper, the advice is to think about not only ‘What?’ but also ‘How?’ and, perhaps most importantly, ‘Why?’

The Lower III students were also advised that Scholars are encouraged not only to take the opportunities on offer but also to make opportunities, finding ways to become a leader in their field and to share their curiosity with others, whether in their tutor group, their year group or across the school as a whole. Viewed as an ‘enjoyable’ and ‘helpful’ session, I’d like to thank everyone who took part in this new initiative, bringing Scholars and aspiring Scholars together across the Senior and Junior Schools.
