National Hockey Manager

on

I was appointed as the Hockey Wales NAG (National Age Group/U18s & U16s) Girls Manager at the start of the year, and went on my first trip away during Easter.

I had the pleasure of taking the U16s to Switzerland to play in a 5s test series. This was a new version of the game for both staff and players, and was a fantastic opportunity to develop for everyone. 5s is a smaller pitch, with 1 GK and 4 outfield players and has boards as side lines, so the game is fast-paced and requires high level technical ability.

The team played 7 matches over 4 days, which was challenging both physically and mentally, but was great preparation for the upcoming EuroHockey 5s in the summer. I got my first taste of working inside a national sports team and saw first hand the hard work, dedication and commitment that is displayed when representing your country.”
