National Cross Country Success

on

On Saturday 18 March, three students travelled to Nottingham with the Berkshire Schools team to compete in the English Schools National Cross Country Championships. This is an excellent achievement to reach this stage, as only eight athletes are selected for each age group (which covers two year groups), and they had to run in two qualification round.

Grace Haldane and Isabella Wood ran excellently for the Junior girls team; they came 204th and 209th out of 338 athletes, being 5th and 6th in Berkshire and helping the team to a 25th placing.

In the Inters age group, Carys Westcott came an incredible 12th place in England and was the 1st Berkshire athlete home, helping the team to an amazing 1st place (out of 45 counties!). In achieving the 12th position within the race, she has been selected as the 2nd reserve for the England Team competing at the SIAB International Schools Cross Country Championships being held this weekend in Liverpool.

A huge congratulations to these three athletes from all of us – what outstanding achievements and a fine way to finish the cross country season.
