Knitted Dolls for Ukraine

on

The textiles department has been busy knitting dolls for Ukrainian children – and just look at the beautiful characters they have created!  It’s all part of a BBC Radio Berkshire “Make A Difference” community campaign to support refugee children.  The dolls are being handed out as they arrive at train stations across Europe.

Knitting comfort dolls is the idea of listener Jenni from Tilehurst who explains “the dolls are tiny enough to go into a child’s pocket – they can then have his or her hand on the doll and it gives them comfort through their troubles and worries”.

The textiles department thought is was a fantastic idea and want to join the community of knitters across Berkshire. We are very proud at The Abbey to play an active part in our local community.  Thanks to everyone involved – we think the dolls are incredible!
