This week we have introduced our new Transdisciplinary Theme ‘How We Express Ourselves’ at Little Knellies.
The students enjoyed listening to a story called ‘Use Your Imagination’, where a wolf and a rabbit work together to build a story. We discussed what we thought imagination is and the children came up with some really great explanations. Viola said ‘it is when you have pictures in your head’. Maya said ‘You can use those pictures for ideas’.
Following this, the children worked collaboratively to come up with their story and acted it out accordingly. We had flying pirates, a superhero that could bounce high, mermaids and dolphins, and a BIG oak tree which was planted and used to tether the pirate ship to whilst the mermaids were rescued.
Afterwards our Little Knellies used a large sheet of paper to mark make. The children drew around Miss Allard’s feet, which extended to drawing around each others. The footprints were transformed into Ice lollies. What a fabulous example of expressing ourselves! We shall look forward to delving further into this topic as the weeks progress.
