The Abbey hosted some of the biggest names in sport for Girls Go Gold 2023 last week.  

Dame Katherine Grainger, Dame Denise Lewis, Sarah Hunter CBE and Fran Williams were just some of the world class athletes sharing their experiences during a day of sport masterclasses, sport science seminars and inspirational speakers. 

550 students and PE staff from 40 schools came together at The Abbey in what is the largest one day conference for 14 – 18 year old female athletes in the UK. We were delighted to be working with our partners University of Reading, British Rowing at the Redgrave Pinsent Rowing Lakes and Reading Athletic Club at the Palmer Park Stadium to provide masterclasses in 11 sports. The overall messages of the day were to believe in yourself, use set back as your fire and above all enjoy your sport!
