Food and Nutrition – Brioche Rolls

on

In Food and Nutrition this week, we made brioche rolls using flour, caster sugar, yeast, butter, egg yolks and milk. While they were proving, we researched the functions of all the ingredients in sweet bread making and discovered that the sugar acts as food for the yeast and also enhances the brioche flavour. It was a great practical to start our GCSE food course.

The rolls were very sweet and delicious and my family really enjoyed eating them. I picked Food and Nutrition for GCSE because I really love cooking and baking tasty dishes so having a practical where we cook every week is really fun. I also love learning about nutrition and diet.
