Computing and Robotics

on

Lower III welcomed a new student into their Computing class this week: The Maqueen Robot! They have been exploring different aspects of coding over the last term using the wonderful Microbit computer and are now stepping up their skills with the addition of this new excitable little robot. Students code the Microbit and then slot it into the top of the Maqueen so the robot can move, turn, run, dance, react to obstacles, follow lines and some Lower IIIs even programmed their Maqueens to walk down the aisle and get married.

Creativity and application of skills is incredibly important in Computing, and robotics is a wonderful tool to help students understand what their programming can do, opening the door to STEM and allowing students to make links between subjects. Lower I also investigate robotics with Lego tools, building up to the more advanced Maqueen.
