Tranthini, Upper IV participated in the Austrian U17 Open tournament organised by Badminton Europe in Dornbirn, Austria from 17-19 June. This is a Badminton World Federation (BWF) recognised tournament involving participants from 16 countries.

Tranthini was the sole representative from England, hence she had to partner with a player from other countries in the Mixed Doubles and Woman Doubles category. In Women Singles she reached the last 32 and lost to a Spanish player in a close three set tussle (21-18, 17-21, 15-21). In Women Doubles she partnered with a Slovenian player and reached the pre-quarter round by beating Hungary. In Mixed Doubles, she partnered with a player from Switzerland but they didn’t manage to break through to the next rounds.

Tranthini says, “It was a good experience to play international tournaments as the standards were very high. This experience reminds me that I have to work hard and focus more on my training. I was surprised to see my partners from other countries communicating in English with me. Also I had an opportunity to use the German language learnt in school during my stay in Austria Emoji“.
