Diwali in Reception

on

Reception made a vibrant start to their new Unit of Inquiry, in which we will be thinking about ‘Exploring how we express our beliefs, traditions and the way we celebrate, helps us understand more about other people.’

With the kind support and skills of some of our Reception families, we held a Diwali inquiry afternoon, which started with a wonderful dressing up session and dance show from some Lower Prep children to show their own Diwali festivities.
The children enjoyed an afternoon of Diwali themed activities, which included learning how to make rangoli patterns with coloured sand, dressing up in colourful clothing and making clay diva lamps and painting mehndi patterns.

We are looking forward to continuing this Unit of Inquiry throughout the Reception year, and learning about other festivals including Christmas, Lunar New Year, Easter and Ramadan and Eid.
