Oxford University Computing Challenge

on

We are pleased to announce that seven of our students were awarded “Merit” certificates in the Oxford University Computing Challenge whose official results were published last Friday.

As you know we had over 50 students take part in this invitation only competition a couple of weeks ago, which is only open to those students that scored in the top 10% in the country at the Bebras Computational Thinking Challenge that took place in November.

This is a fantastic achievement in our first year of taking part in this competition and means the students yet again achieved scores in the top 15% of this competition.

Robert Bradley, Head of Computing, commented; “It reminds me a bit of Top Gun where they talk about the Best of the Best. Our students were amongst the best in a national computing competition of the best students in the country. Just phenomenal!”

“I want to congratulate all those who took part. It was an amazing achievement just to be invited to take part in this very hard competition. But a special well done to those seven students achieving a Merit Certificate. What an achievement!”

Unfortunately no one achieved a score high enough to be invited into the finals this year, but the students have already started practising ready for next year’s competition and we look forward to seeing how well they do next year!
