Cricket Match

The U13s had their first Berkshire League ‘Softball’ match vs Crosfields on Wednesday afternoon consisting of 12 overs a side.

The Abbey were put into field first and started dominantly with Anvi picking up a wicket in the second over. Eshitha continued this forward momentum taking a wicket in the 4th over and Crosfields had to work hard to score runs. Tight bowling by Aanya in the final over saw Crosfields lose another wicket to finish on 67 runs.

The Abbey started fast when in bat with Anvi, Prisha and Twinkle scoring quick runs in the first four overs to get us to a score of 18. This progress was hindered slightly in the middle order where pressure built and wickets fell. However, this did not stop The Abbey’s belief with Aanya, Anayah, Olanna and Sara scoring 20 runs in their 4 overs to get the score to 41 with 2 overs remaining.

Despite the best efforts from the team The Abbey fell 13 runs short of the target but played the match in high spirits showing great enthusiasm and sportsmanship. I look forward to seeing them in their first hardball game next Wednesday (1st May) vs Queen Anne’s at Harpsden Cricket Club.
