Unit of Inquiry: Lower I visit to Maidenhead Mosque

on

This week, as part of their inquiry into Islam, Lower I visited Maidenhead Mosque.  We started by identifying the external features of a mosque – the dome, minaret (where the call for prayer comes from) and the crescent moon symbol.

Once inside the girls were able to explore the prayer hall, find out about the history of the mosque, ask questions about all aspects of the Muslim faith and visit the wudu area (washrooms where ritual cleaning takes place before prayer). The trip culminated with a quiz and chocolate treat!

When asked how they had enjoyed the trip , Lower I were unanimous in response – it was great!

‘I found it really interesting learning all about how muslims pray.’

The chandelier hanging in the middle of the dome in the prayer hall was beautiful!’

The quiz showed how much we had learned!
