Woodley Festival Public Speaking Competition

on

Gabrielle (Lower V) entered the Woodley Festival Public Speaking class. She prepared a speech arguing that optimism is better than realism. Her speech used evidence, logical reasoning and a wide range of rhetorical devices to convince her audience. Her delivery was poised and confident. She came away with a medal and certificate and she would like to encourage others to take part next year:

‘Competing in the Woodley Festival Public Speaking competition was a new experience which I thoroughly enjoyed. The quality of competition was very high and I gained a lot of exposure to different techniques I could use to further increase my public speaking skills. I definitely recommend entering the competition for any public speakers who would like to perform in a friendly atmosphere with good quality competition and excellent feedback. No matter what place you come, there’s lots to gain from entering!’
