Visit to MERL

on

On Monday we went on a visit to MERL (The Museum of English Rural Life) in Reading. It was very interesting and we really enjoyed looking around the galleries, and the archives behind the scenes. We also really enjoyed getting involved in a project about evacuees; summarising memoirs to help future research. It was intriguing and made us want to explore the project more. It was particularly interesting because when reading the memoirs you noticed that every evacuee had a different experience and story to tell, which gave us a more in depth understanding about life in the war. In the afternoon we painted the inside of a shepherd’s hut which was a fun, team building activity to do. Overall we had a great day!
