Upper Prep have been exploring story telling and how artists use storytelling in their artwork. We have been investigating Faith Ringgold, a textile quilt maker and Elizabeth Catlett who is a Lino printer! This week in Art Upper Prep created their own prints using polystyrene blocks. They each carved out their own design using a sharp pencil, they had to make sure not to press to hard through the polystyrene!
They then practiced rolling the printing ink on the pallet and applying it carefully to their design. Each pattern was so unique and they all had a go at creating a repeating pattern. Nora in Upper Prep even had a go at layering the colours and noticed that yellow and blue made green!
Upper Prep are really excited to create more prints in the next few weeks and create some new designs with a variety of colours!
