Upper IV’s £5 family meal challenge

on

In Upper IV we have been planning and executing our £5 meals to test our abilities of cooking, combined with our skills of budgeting. The brief was to make a highly skilled dish for a family of 4 for £5 and make it from scratch!

This was a challenge for everyone, with only 1 hour to complete it, it felt like the Great British Bake Off! The process of planning it was tricky, yet fun, and seeing the inflation of food prices recently it was a helpful lesson to complete.

Personally, I made a pizza and it smelt wonderful, and on top of that, Mrs Mair said that it changed her opinion on pineapple on pizza as it was so tasty. I was also able to make my own cheese, which I never knew was possible without fancy machinery. I loved working with other people and watching their creations slowly come together. If I had the opportunity to do this again, then I would use mozzarella instead of ricotta and make my pizza even bigger to feed my extended family too!
