Upper IV textile students enjoyed a fun and informative day visiting the Knit and Stitch exhibition at Alexandra Palace, London. There were wonderfully creative displays of textile art from both emerging and established artists and designers. The students were able to speak to the exhibitors to find out about their inspiration and the materials and techniques used to create their diverse artworks. There were graduates on hand to discuss their university courses, their current work and their future aspirations. The Royal School of Needlework, which offers degree courses based at Hampton Court Palace, encouraged students to try their hand at embroidery and beading on a collaborative piece, under the guidance of one of their tutors. Having collected research and ideas to inform their own work, the students were able to browse the numerous stalls. After a busy day it was a very quiet coach journey home!
