Geography Spotlight on Sustainable Cities

During Upper III Geography lessons the students have been extremely busy designing and constructing models of sustainable cities. This has been our key focus this term where they have learnt all about the Sustainable Development Goals and the importance of living sustainably. The curriculum has looked at why urban areas have many environmental problems and with increasing populations moving to urban areas how this will impact future generations to come. Students have looked at Air pollution and transport, Water waste, food consumption and agriculture, Deforestation and urban sprawl, waste management and landfill and finally Energy conservation. They have used their knowledge to design sustainable cities using recycled materials. As you can see from the selection of below, they have made some fanatic models showcasing their designing and creative skills. We may have even identified some future architects, town planners, renewable energy and sustainability consultants as well!

Well done to all of Upper III and for all your wonderful models – they were fantastic.
