Upper III – “Flipping happy students in French Cookery Club!”

on

My name is Beatrice and this half term I attended French Cooking Club. The club was after school on a Wednesday and a really nice way to relax after a long day. I was sadly absent in the first session but in the second session we made tarte flambee, a traditional tart from Alsace. As Alsace is on the border between France and Germany , the region has changed hands over the years, but it has been French for a while now. The tart was really delicious with toppings like bacon and onions. My other personal favourite thing that we made was crepes et sauce aux chocolat, during the last session. The crepe batter had to be the right consistency or the crepes wouldn’t cook correctly. We had lots of fun trying to flip the crepes without a spatula and fortunately no one’s ended up on the ceiling! On the whole, the club was amazing and I really enjoyed improving my cookery skills whilst having fun at the same time. Special thanks to Mrs Fowkes and Mrs Mair for being such great teachers and offering helpful guidance in French and English.
