Before the new school term began, pupils from Upper II and Lower III enthusiastically took part in a Bikeability Level 1 and 2 course, designed to help young riders gain confidence and independence on their bikes.
Over the two days, students learnt the importance of carrying out thorough bike safety checks to ensure their bicycles were roadworthy, as well as how to control their bikes in a variety of situations.
They practised key skills such as safe stopping, signalling clearly to other road users, and navigating different types of junctions. By the end of the course, pupils were not only equipped with the practical skills needed to cycle safely on the roads, but also developed a stronger awareness of how to travel responsibly around Reading by bike.
It was wonderful to see their confidence grow as the course progressed.
Congratulations to all the students who successfully completed both days!
