Upper I had a fantastic Roman Day on Friday 12 June and thoroughly enjoyed stepping back in time to Ancient Rome!

The children arrived looking wonderful in a variety of Roman-inspired costumes, from powerful gods and goddesses to brave Roman soldiers. We began the day by discovering our Roman names, which caused lots of excitement and laughter, before learning more about life in Roman times.
The students enjoyed researching Roman soldiers and finding out about their training, armour and daily lives. They then used this knowledge to design and create their own Roman soldiers, carefully thinking about every detail, from helmets and shields to armour and weapons. It was wonderful to see so much creativity and enthusiasm on display.

We also had the opportunity to taste some Roman food and discuss how it compared to the foods we eat today. One of the highlights of the day was putting our Roman shields into action as we practised battle formations together. The students loved working as a team and marching like a Roman legion!
