Traditional Block Printing and Pattern Repeats – Upper IV Textiles

on

Our Upper IV Textiles students have been learning the art of Traditional Block Printing, using handmade blocks created from their own drawings. The motifs chosen by the students were based on the theme of ‘Confectionery’, so that their unique printed fabrics can be used as the back of their cushion covers, coordinating beautifully with the fronts! Having studied a range of pattern repeat layouts, the students practised printing on paper to adjust the paint quantity before transferring their favourite design to fabric. We look forward to displaying their work soon.
