The Scottish Play!

on

On Wednesday Upper IV students saw an interactive version of Macbeth, performed by Box Clever Theatre and hosted by Queen Anne’s School. The Upper IV have just started studying the play in English and this was a helpful introduction. Fast-paced and action packed, the show took them through the key events of the play in a dynamic way – incorporating Shakespeare’s language and modern props and devices. The company comprised 3 actors multi-rolling which meant a number of the audience members were called up on stage to help out. Abbey students became immersed: taking on parts including Fleance, Banquo and MacDuff. After the performance, there was a short workshop which got everyone on their feet, trying to take on the voice of Lady Macbeth. We thoroughly enjoyed the morning and the original take on The Scottish Play.
