Last week, the halls of The Abbey School were filled with festive cheer as families, students, and teachers gathered for our annual Christmas Fair, followed by the Candlelight Procession. Twinkling lights, cheerful music, and the scent of freshly baked treats created a truly magical atmosphere that set the tone for the holiday season.

Visitors wandered through rows of beautifully decorated stalls offering a great choice form handmade lanterns to hair braiding and the ever popular, sweet treats prepared by students, with the support and guidance of parents. As in previous years, stalls were proudly run by the students themselves, showcasing their creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.

The Spelling Bee stall drew an enthusiastic crowd, testing visitors’ quick thinking and vocabulary. The Hair Braiding corner, always a favourite, saw long lines of children waiting to have festive ribbons woven into their hair. Nearby, the irresistible aroma of freshly baked cookies and colourful cupcakes tempted everyone passing by, while the Book Sale stall delighted readers of all ages with pre-loved stories waiting for new homes. The raffle was a big hit once again, featuring exciting prizes. Everyone enjoyed a visit to Santa on stage, where wide eyes and beaming smiles were in abundance. The photo sessions with Santa also proved popular, capturing joyful moments that families can treasure for years to come.

One of the most memorable moments of the evening was the Candlelight Procession. As dusk settled, students and parents gathered in the Junior School Hall, each carrying a glowing lantern. Gentle carols filled the air, creating an atmosphere of peace and unity. Afterwards, parents and children walked the path to the Senior School, their lights twinkling like stars in the evening sky. It was a beautiful sight and a touching reminder of togetherness at this special time of year.

The evening concluded at the Senior School with the singing of classic carols around the tree in Hardcastle Hall, followed by mulled wine, mince pies and a fantastic performance by the Rock Band.

The whole event showcased the creativity, generosity, and community spirit that define The Abbey School.
A total of £509.79 was collected from the event and will be donated to Cowshed which offers free, high-quality essential items like clothing, bedding, and toiletries to those in personal crisis.
TAPS would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped organise the event and to all who came to support it. Together, we have truly made this Christmas one to remember.
