Last week, four students from Upper IV and Lower V gave talks on a wide range of academic subjects.

Audrey, Lower V, argued that comedy operated as a universal language, one that captured our attention and could communicate complex messages to children.

Samaira, Upper IV, discussed the failure of group tasks using game theory to consider how individuals should collaborate with effort as a limited resource. She ultimately thought that group tasks were doomed to fail if participants prioritise self-interest.

Osatohan, Lower V, spoke about whether fashion could be considered art. She questioned the way that art had been categorised throughout history, especially the division between decorative and figurative art, before concluding that fashion can be art.

Ivana, Lower V, considered the possible future colonisation of space and how this would work both in our galaxy and those beyond. It was fascinating to consider the ways space exploration might develop.
